About The Role

We are a growing and innovative FinTech business with excellent opportunities available.

We are creating a Front End development capability to sit alongside our .NET and open source teams within our 40 strong production team and offering Developers the opportunity to build bespoke cross-platform and cross-business software.

Working remotely from your own home,  this is an excellent opportunity to support our digital transformation and influence the way we deliver software: the role will suit talented individuals who want to be part of a technology driven business and work with innovative systems and technologies such as AWS, DevOps, React, Azure, NodeJS, PHP etc.

You will have 3-5 years  experience in building front end applications at scale, and an enterprising attitude to join our highly Agile fintech tam. 

Key responsibilities

  • Define what ‘great looks like’, devise and implement a modern approach to engineering that enables continuous delivery across the group
  • Support in the creation of strategies and roadmaps, investment cases, and influence the business change programme to the business aligned strategies
  • Help establish and grow a people first will deliver culture by inspiring, influencing, challenging, leading, supporting and nurturing colleagues, peers and the wider business
  • Promote and encourage innovation throughout the teams at all levels, to look for new answers and delivery of fresh approaches
  • As a technology lead, ensure industry best practice is being adopted, understood and standardised,
  • Ensure we're building customer centric, feature-rich, scalable and secure product lines, products and features
  • Play a driving role in the continuous improvement of quality processes and standards to ensure that the organisation provides efficient, high quality and cost-effective solutions
  • Support, nurture and enable continuous delivery at a sustainable pace of high-quality customer-centric products and services
  • Effectively balance technical leadership and software engineering individual contributor responsibilities
  • Taking ownership for driving Continuous Improvement for self, team and wider business
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, research and development, incubating ideas and proofs-of-concept aligned to disruptive technologies and approaches

About You

You’ll be passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers and will be flexible and adaptable in ways of working across the business, respecting the way products work in a highly agile environment. As part of a cross-functional IT and Business change team, you should be comfortable influencing, developing, challenging and motivating highly talented teams. In addition, you’ll have:

Essential Skills

  • Previous leadership experience, providing leadership across strategy and roadmap development, delivery technical resources and programme resources
  • 3-5 years building front end applications at scale
  • Excellent understanding of modern JavaScript
  • Experience building commercial applications in one of the following Vue, React or Angular
  • Experience with scripting technologies such as Webpack, Gulp, NodeJS
  • Experience building great-looking applications using technologies such as Material-UI, Bootstrap, etc
  • Thorough understanding of test approaches, including unit testing and integration testing
  • Strong automation and CI/CD experience
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral

    Desirable Skills

  • Experience interfacing with stakeholders and non-technical staff members
  • Experience with Typescript, RxJS, writing elegant and scalable code
  • Commercial experience with the Flux pattern such as Vuex or Redux
  • Experience building and deploying cloud-based applications in AWS and/or Azure
  • Background knowledge of PHP to support / transition legacy systems
  • Database Design (relational SQL and/or NOSQL)
  • Pivotal Tracker or Jira, GitHub tools experience is a plus
  • Agile way of working experience (Scrum, eXtreme Programming)
